Munroe Makes Loan Switch to Blackpool from Middlesbrough

Blackpool have added to their defensive options by bringing in Finley Munroe from Middlesbrough on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old defender is comfortable playing either at left-back or in the centre of defence, giving Blackpool manager Ian Evatt greater flexibility at the back for the upcoming campaign.

Munroe joined Middlesbrough in January after spending the first half of the season on loan with League Two side Swindon Town.

During his spell at Swindon, the defender featured 23 times for Ian Holloway’s team and found the net on two occasions.

His arrival at Blackpool makes him the fifth player to join the Seasiders during the summer transfer window.

Munroe said discussions with Evatt were an important factor behind his decision to move to Bloomfield Road. He was particularly impressed by the manager’s footballing approach and his ambitions for the season.

The defender told Blackpool’s official website that his conversations with Evatt had been very positive and that the manager’s plans for the team were a major attraction.

Munroe will now look to make the most of his season-long spell by gaining valuable first-team experience and helping Blackpool achieve their targets.
