Euro 2020: England travel to Rome for facing Ukraine in the Quarters

Gareth Southgate’s men travelled from Birmingham to Rome with the Euro 2020 glory extending its phase towards the finals on 11 July. With just a week remaining for the end of this year’s big league, England will face Ukraine in the quarter-finals on 3 July (8PM BST).

England has quickly boarded flight to the Eternal City- Rome, after an extensive final training session at national base St George’s Park at home. All the players including Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Jack Grealish, Mason Mount, and Declan Rice and the boss Southgate were in a relaxed mood as they boarded the flight on 2 July afternoon.

All the players and England’s boss were then seen checking into a hotel in Rome ahead of the huge match, later in the day. A quick recap of England qualifying for the last-eight will be something that the players admire after a convincing 2-0 victory over Germany in R-16.

However, Gareth Southgate has been struggling to pick the right combinations for games through the Euro 2020 league. Southgate had different options of a flexible 3-4-3 / 5-2-3 to combat Germany’s wing-backs in the last 16.

Southgate now needs to now decide the best side that takes on Ukraine and hopefully expects to lead through to the semi’s to face Czech Republic or Denmark in the semi-finals. But the boss might look into a back-four for Ukraine in either a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

The centre-back Harry Maguire and crucial part of the team- captain Kane had a serious training session with co-players before leaving to Rome.

Southgate may consider resting a few key players to avoid any suspensions before the semi-final stage while he already witnessed four players on a yellow card currently. Phil Foden, Rice, Maguire, and Kalvin Phillips are currently on a yellow card to their name apiece.

Rice and Phillips might be replaced with Jordan Henderson and Mason Mount in the quarters.  Jack Grealish might be seen as a No10 role behind Kane, with on-fire Raheem Sterling on the left-wing.
